REDILINK is
a software system that controls the entire procedure of ready-mix concrete
or asphalt production, including raw material suppliers (plants and
quarries), order entry, dispatching, invoicing and mix design formulation
by controlling all activities from the main office. It is a
multi-computer, multi-location system that can run on a single station for
small plants or many stations for large operations. Its extreme ease
of use and flexibility allows screens and reports to be modified by the
user to suit his needs. Additionally, it runs in virtually any
mixture of languages; each operator can pick one or other of
English/Spanish, English/French, English/Italian etc.

REDILINK
is the only Ready-Mix software system
that offers a complete solution from one source, eliminating the
incompatibilities that occur in other products, which combine software
programs from several different companies. You can be assured that
features which you do not need right away will be available when you need
them; they are built into the program.
Technically, RediLink uses the
industry standard Microsoft SQL, Oracle or free MySQL database, giving extensive data
mining possibilities with the query & report generator. It has
extensive import and export data capabilities with internal XML &
ASCII file generators.
Communication between main office
and plants can be continuously online or semi-online, saving cost.
If communication is interrupted, either deliberately or accidentally, all
plant activities can continue normally, the main office and plant
databases being updated automatically once communication is
restored. This feature makes RediLink the most robust software system
in the business.
System Description:
Picture courtesy of Irpinia Calcestruzzi, www.irpiniacalcestruzzi.it
The system, running on an industry
standard Windows-based PC, is programmed in a way that gives the main
office full control over the work done in each and every affiliate. The
main office can control the plants both from the technical and the
commercial aspects.
Hardware:
Windows based workstation and TCP/IP networking.
Note that if you are purchasing Order Entry / Dispatching software for
the first time, you must consider that this software will be driving your
business. You must have reliable computers with adequate speed and
memory as well as a reliable network and a local IT specialist who can
maintain your network.
Technology:
Data base : Oracle, MSSQL2000, MySQL
Communication : Internet/Intranet
Truck identification : Tiris technology
Software:
This system is particularly friendly and easy to operate. When programmed,
it was taken into consideration that the people operating parts of the
system are not computer oriented, and thus, the major emphasis was given
to the human interface.
System operation
The system contains three main modules: Main
office , Plant management , Mix design control.
Main Office
The main office module manages the following
activities :
- Customer Data Base management.
- Contracts & projects/sites
management.
Contracts define an agreement between the customer and the
company.
The contract defines the following:
The construction sites or projects covered by
the contract.
Prices for each concrete type and for extras
(slump, waiting time, etc.)
Price indexing and payment terms.
- General management table.
Trucks, drivers, raw material suppliers etc.
- Communication.
Daily communication with each plant transfers customer lists
and contracts from the main office to the plants and receives the
tickets, contracts and raw materials entries created in the
plants. Occasional communication for mix design or commercial
data update. Transfer of accounting
transactions to accounting software.
- Invoicing.
Creation of invoices based on the delivery tickets received from
the plants.
- Transfer of accounting transactions
to accounting software.
RediLink does not include accounting functions, other than
invoicing, because we recognize the need for companies to choose an
accounting system that suits their particular size and needs, as well
as the ability to continue using an established software system.
- Reports.
The system contains a large
number of reports to satisfy all management needs. For example:
tickets reports, profit margin, production forecast, raw material
usage etc.
Plant management:
The plant management module serves the dispatcher
and the plant batcher. The dispatcher manages the plant's activity
and the plant batcher actually loads the trucks; the system may also be
used by a single batcher who does both the batching and the loading.
This module can also be operated by a single operator in a stand-alone
plant.
The plant management module controls the
following activities:
-
Orders management.
Enter orders for the same day and ahead; each order defines the
customer, site, concrete type, quantity, date and time, frequency and
extras.
- Dispatching - Delivery tickets creation
- based on existing orders.
The system displays, for each order, the tickets created for the order
and keeps track of both the total quantity supplied and the number of
trucks at the site. It allows automatic addition of all extras
such as non-standard slump, truck waiting time, extra admixes etc. All
these items are optional. No
overlooked items or reliance on operator's memory, increasing revenue
and profits.
- Production control - Operated by the
plant batcher
Manual: the system displays the required quantity
of each raw material and allows the plant batcher enter the actual
quantities loaded into the mixer/truck.
Automatic: the system sends to the production
controller the required quantities for each raw material and
receives the actual quantities loaded into the mixer/truck.
- Entry of raw material deliveries.
- Raw material inventory management.
The system keeps track of the raw material inventory by adding raw
material deliveries and deducting the quantities used for production.
For cement, the inventory is maintained for each silo.
The inventory can be adjusted when a physical inventory is taken.
- Truck control.
The system keeps track of the location of each truck and the
number of trips it makes each day.
- Batching forecast/plant loading.
An estimate of batches to be made per hour, based on existing
orders and the frequency requirement of each order, is shown
graphically to allow the central dispatcher to deal with plant
overloads. Customer satisfaction is
the number one priority.
- Batching order recommendation.
The system arranges the priority of orders, popping up the most urgent
to receive a batch.
- Price calculation.
For each ticket, the price is calculated based on the contract prices
less discounts etc.
- Issuing of invoices and receipts to
occasional customers paying cash.
Operational reports.
Production reports, raw material usage, inventory reports etc. The system
provides a direct data flow from the order entry to production. After
receiving the order, each shipping ticket is issued according to the
concrete definition (taken from the order) and the shipping ticket is
transferred to the production system. This is a "foolproof"
system that prevents any possible communication mistakes between the
dispatcher and the batcher.
Mix Design Control
An unlimited number of master mix designs can be kept for each plant. The
mix design database contains the mix designs for all concrete types produced by the
plant. Each master mix design is defined by a unique combination of the raw
material sources and the additives in use.
Mix Design Control covers the following activities:
- Define concrete types.
- Define raw materials.
- Define mix design directories &
formulas.
Transfer mix design directories to the plants.
The mix design module allows automatic design of concrete formulas based
on the raw material characteristics and other requirements, such as water
required, water/cement ratio, admixture influence on water/cement ratio.
The design process optimizes the concrete's density and the aggregate
curve, resulting in a better mixture which allows the use of a more
economic water/cement ratio for a given strength, saving material costs on
a continuous basis. Mix design
formulation maximizes savings on raw materials to maximize profits.
Operating languages
The default language is English in all systems. RediLink is
multi-lingual however, and can run in several different languages on
separate stations simultaneously in the same system, including special
scripts such as Chinese. New languages are added as
required; the procedure is simple and low in cost. Ideal
for OEMs in non-English areas.
Batching control systems
RediLink operates in conjunction with the BatchTron
series of batch controllers. When used with BatchTron, all
unauthorized batches and material additions are recorded and reported,
eliminating cheating and fraud. It is also capable of connecting to
any third party batching system when the appropriate software is
installed.
STI (Service and Training by
Internet)
Redilink's reliability is the best in the
industry. This is not where we stop, however. Our customers
tell us - loud and clear - when they do have a problem. In order to
solve problems quickly and efficiently we have called upon the latest
Internet technology. Through your company network and its Internet
connection, or even through a phone connection to the Internet, we can
access your system and monitor its progress to pinpoint faults. Even
if the faults are caused by mechanical problems in the plant (90% of all
faults are), we can see the resulting holdup and guide the operator to a
successful outcome, anywhere in the world.
Our engineers can monitor or control the PC
computer running BatchLink or RediLink software, drilling down through
levels of menus to check setup data, correct it and, most important, train
personnel to understand the processes. Together with a speaker
phone, training sessions for groups can be conducted almost as easily as
our trainer being on site. The cost saving and convenience is
obvious. Scale-Tron is pioneering this technology to make your
experience the best possible.
